19 Meetup Groups match “Intellectual Discussion” near Farmington, MN
Meetup details are available only to members.
The club goal is to provide an open floor for intellectual discussion, where each is allowed to provide their option without fear of judgement or ridicule. We want to setup a safe area to grow our knowledge through each other. In society, it has become taboo to discuses: politics, current issues, and to speak openly about our option if they disagree with those of the majority. Any topic is open for debate. Each member must only pledge to provided an open mind and sound arguments.
It's a hard job but I have decided to do it. This group will be a safe and neutral meeting ground for all varieties of self-identified socialists. Ideally it should be a place where people can leave their labels and their (intellectual) guns at the door. Talk of the future not the past. Share what we agree on and be respectful about what we don't.

This monthly discussion group is all about Nietzsche, his background, his influence, and our thoughts, feelings and reactions to him. In the spirit of Nietzsche, let us read him slowly and carefully. All are welcome to join us, from Nietzsche scholar to curious learner. Join us to learn, to share your knowledge, or to plumb your own depths as we probe Nietzsche’s depths. Our group will read and discuss short selections from works of Nietzsche including his depth psychology, his metaphysics, his …

My husband and I are a couple in our 30s looking to meet friends (couples, singles) over some fun discussions. If you like the idea of being in a book club, but don't have enough time to read the "book of the month," come try this group out! Every month, one "TEDtalk" will be selected (a free internet video ~ 10 minutes from http://www.ted.com/talks) about any of a variety of topics - the meaning of life, science, music, etc. You can watch it on your own before the meetup - or just wait until th …
Join us to discuss interesting reads in science and design. Monthly meetings over coffee or a drink.
I want to study the Bible with a group of open-minded, secular individuals so I can really understand it. The Bible is often used as ammunition and I want to fight fire with fire, so to speak. I want to know what it really says so I can respond to people who only choose bits and pieces of it to follow or use against you. If you are an intelligent individual who embraces science and knows that evolution is the only logical answer, then this is the group for you. If you are a Christian who believe …

This is a group for women who want to get together for a variety of activities that, while different in nature, will all lead to self-growth. I envision having a monthly meeting that could start with a book discussion (authors like Eckhart Tolle, Louise Hay, Don Miguel Ruiz, Deepak Chopra, Barbara Marx Hubbard, Wayne Dyer, Bruce Lipton...), followed by a meeting where we go for a hike in the Arboretum, Como Park, Minnehaha Falls or a forest out of the cities. Another meeting might be a meditatio …

Secular Bible Study is a joint effort between religious believers and atheists in the Twin Cities to study and discuss the Bible and Religion -- not to engender any specific religious or non-religious view, but to explore their historical context, societal impact and cultural relevance. SBS invites expert speakers to lecture on particular topics and lead discussions; and facilitates respectful and constructive reasoning dialogues between people of many different (or no) beliefs, providing the op …

Greetings and Salutations! This is a free and open society that was created for the specific purpose of discussing, exploring, and contemplating various issues, ideas, and concerns that relate to world government. We are not here to support any particular approach that can lead to a world government, but we assemble at each group meeting to discuss relevant issues that pertain to its hypothetical practice. Ideally, it is the aspiration of the society to bring together members of the general publ …

Looking for people interested in diving into true conversation, listening without judgement and speaking without anger. The topics of conversation will not be predetermined, but will flow from the participants own interests. We will ad-lib the discussions. Plan on a small group in home setting to keep it relaxed and quiet. Depending on interest level this could change.

We're a unique venue, where those with divergent beliefs and backgrounds engage in reasoning dialogue and fellowship across the gulf of human difference. Although our members remain affiliated with their various groups that rely on religious, atheist, biological, ethnic, cultural, economic, political or ideological kinship, they also join the Circle to examine and bring their diffe …
An informal gathering for discussion and networking of business leaders, professionals, students, scientists, inventors and entrepreneurs. Innovations and the creative process in products, business models and science are subjects of conversation. Sometimes there is a discussion topic, others a featured guest. The goals are to connect innovators and entrepreneurs so we can learn from each other, make the journey more fun, and to support each others success.
The modern book group of today is in some ways still a push for women's intellectual autonomy. Think of this book club as a refuge for women who want to cultivate their minds outside of our current culture's norm of watching television or films. This is a casual, laid back, friendly book club discussion about the books we are reading. This book club meets in the Saint Paul Midway area. This book club may or may not be currently open to new members. Due to the personal nature of book club discus …

You are Here . . . Now . . . For a Purpose.
