We’re a discussion group with a focus on rationality, philosophy, science, technology, skepticism and ethics. We choose members who are friendly, intellectually curious, intelligent, non-religious, and rationally-minded – meaning that we’re more interested in figuring out the truth together than in proving ourselves right, or in arguing for the sake of arguing. Our members are young, almost all in the range of 20 to 35 years old. Our meetings are usually informal group discussions at someone’s a …

Once a month, we gather together in a space in West Philly that can fit up to 50 people to watch a movie and talk about it. We generally focus on recent dvd releases of foreign, independent, and documentary films. After watching the film together, we have a discussion which usually lasts about 50 minutes. It's been great to meet people from so many different backgrounds and see the value that diversity adds to our group and discussions. Javaflix is a free event.
A Meetup Group for fans of The Partially Examined Life podcast! We'll listen to the podcast and continue the discussion together! You don't have to know any philosophy, or even to have read the text we're talking about to (mostly) follow and (hopefully) enjoy the discussion.

Also it is nice to meet for coffee and discussions, or just if you need someone to knock you out of Writer's Block/bounce ideas off of.

In 1968, Czechs & Slovaks under soviet-dominated communist rule yearned for a say in the governance of their own country. A blossoming of political discourse in cafes and pubs led to demands for self rule in the capital.
