Once a month, we gather together in a space in West Philly that can fit up to 50 people to watch a movie and talk about it. We generally focus on recent dvd releases of foreign, independent, and documentary films. After watching the film together, we have a discussion which usually lasts about 50 minutes. It's been great to meet people from so many different backgrounds and see the value that diversity adds to our group and discussions. Javaflix is a free event.
We brought our group to Meetup.com in April 2010, but we actually began our monthly book discussions in September 2009. We have been having our meetings the first Wednesday evening of every month, 7pm at Red Hook Coffee & Tea (765 S 4th St - between Fitzwater & Catharine in Queen Village). The meetings generally go no later than 9pm. We are casual and enthusiastic; our members enjoy reading and collectively choosing and discussing books on a monthly basis. We take turns selecting the books for …

Welcome! This group is a community of people dedicated to fellowship and the cross-pollination of ideas. This group will gather monthly (we hope) to discuss archetypal, imaginal and spiritual psychology. These discussions will include considerations of published works, videos and blogs by post-Jungian thinkers like Robert Sardello, James Hillman, Mary Watkins, Paul Kugler, and Stephen Simmer, among many others. Central to this multivariant movement is an attempt to rethink psyche as soul. The main influence on the development of archetypal, imaginal and archetypal psychology is Carl Jung's analytic …

“I do not know the American gentleman, God forgive me for putting two such words together." -Charles Dickens What the young men of our generation need is an excuse to drink the way our grandfathers used to: frequently, dressed well, and over meaningful conversation. The purpose of this group is to start a group of gentlemen who are intelligent, driven, and appreciate meaningful discussion. That being said, we're not stuffy. Crass subjects, foul language, sarcasm and funny jokes made in poor tast …

Do you you have a love of maps and history? Are you interested in the environment through an historical lens? Often we are taught subjects as self-contained disciplines, but in reality there are many natural forces which effect an historical event, such as plagues, landforms, climate, wind and ocean currents. This group isn't about reciting dates or capitals--we explore people, places and events and the the way the natural world has affected history and vice versa. It's really amazing stuff!

This is a group for studying Jane Loevinger's ego development theory. We'll get our hands on the material below, we'll work through it a little bit at a time, wrestle with it, and maybe we'll do something interesting with it. And we'll collect people as we go along, get to know each other, and talk about lots of random, interesting stuff along the way. Lots of you will find this through Ken Wilber's writing, Spiral Dynamics, etc., and lots of you will have some sort of spiritual practice. But, n …

This group is for anyone who is a highly sensitive person. Let's get together to have fun and to offer friendship and support to one another. Not sure if you are a HSP? Take a Self Test, at hsperson.com. HSPs tend to over-analyze situations and feel more, often being overly affected by other people's moods and/or external stimuli because they pick up more sensory information than 80-85% of the population. Can you relate? Activities may include meditation, hikes, dining out, group discussions, et …
